Here in China, multiple traveling opportunities are awaiting you. Mountains, oceans, big cities, delicious food, loads of outdoor activities, historic sites…The list goes on and on. China has something for everybody. Traveling will help you build confidence, experience new cultures, learn a new language, and make new friends. Since COVID-19 many travel plans were canceled making it almost impossible to travel far or even abroad…but don’t fear it doesn’t mean you can’t still have an amazing adventure and experience China!

Traveling in Asia from China

Asia is the largest and most populous continent in the world. It is also one of the safest and inexpensive regions in the world making it very popular for backpackers and budget travelers. Exploring Asia can stretch across Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore.

If you don’t feel like traveling far in Asia it is very easy hopping on a high-speed train to somewhere close or taking a short flight or bus ride. Traveling in China is very cheap and takes less time getting somewhere because of the multiple transport options you have.

Traveling within China

The COVID-19 situation in China is much better if you compare it to the rest of the world. If you have a green health code and a recent negative COVID-test result with you (which is very easy to get at any hospital), you are good to travel to any low-risk areas in China. It’s still important to be safe and responsible for both you and the people around you if are traveling. Check your local travel restrictions before you travel to make sure it is safe for you.

Traveling with friends

For most people, traveling is about seeking new adventures and experiencing new things, food and culture. These adventures become even more fun if you can share them with good friends. If you look back on your trips, you will remember the memories you shared with your friends. “A journey becomes even more beautiful when you can share it”. Making friends abroad can make this big world seem a little bit smaller and give color to your travels. Our advice is to meet as many people as you can abroad when you travel because locals know the best! It will definitely make your travels more enjoyable. Plus, you never know when these connections can come in handy or for planning the next trip.

Traveling in your city

I live in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan. It is located very close to beautiful mountains and the surrounding Chengdu plain, known as the “Country of Heaven”. It’s easy to take a train to Emeishan or a bus to Qingchengchan to enjoy the mountains for hiking, hot springs, ski resorts, temples, and breathtaking views. You can also take a short 2-hour flight to Xi’an and visit the famous Terracotta warriors. These trips are very easy to take over weekends or your days off.

Traveling doesn’t mean actually booking a ticket somewhere. It can also be traveling in your city. Exploring the streets, tasting new food, taking the metro, and getting off at a stop you have never been before. Visiting parks, museums, and temples. Every city or town in China is very rich in culture and history sometimes we don’t have to travel far to experience these things…Everything is right in front of you. There are many ways to experience new things and learning is always enriching. Multiple things help us enrich ourselves, but the first step is to be open-minded about this journey and travel out of our comfort zone!
